Resources for Organizing Walmart – Help Us Build A Better Altadena - And Make Walmart Better Too

Right now, many Walmart employees across the world are organizing, demanding fair, living wages, affordable health insurance, and better working conditions.  To find out more about the “Our Walmart” campaign, here is their website: http://forrespect.org/our-walmart/about-us/ .  If you are a local Walmart employee, email us to get involved in local support for Walmart workers at mail@buildingabetteraltadena.org .

On June 7th, Walmart workers will head to Walmart’s annual shareholder meeting in Bentonville, Arkansas, to tell their stories and call for better treatment, hours, and benefits at Walmart.  If you would like to be involved with local solidarity actions, contact us at info@buildingabetteraltadena.org.

Rumors that the empty lot at Calaveras and Lake is being developed for a second Walmart are alive and well.  Is that the kind of development that Altadena wants?  Doubtful.  And union workers with decent wages and full benefits next door at Ralph’s say a Walmart in that location could put their store at risk for closure.  This would definitely be bad for Altadena.

Websites below have a lot of information about Walmart.  Please share these resources as we work to build a better Altadena.
